As I grow
I sleep more
hiding from
the awful taste
my insecurities leave.
A senseless joy
I find from closed eyes
as I surrender my thoughts
to the approaching night.
These days
while people laugh
and others love,
While others sit quietly
to watch clouds drift by
across blue sky
I drift too
but into midday sleep
never tired, but always hiding
in slumber, my one reprieve
even when the sun, amber
shines in the sky.
Even when I wake
the sun shines still
a reminder
of what I miss
The sky still blue
as clouds drift by
the air is now cool
evening is here.
Everything is in constant motion
My friends are laughing out there
A couple kisses somewhere
But
I lie in bed
still and sinking
forgotten
like half eaten fruit
rotting in my sheets.
I got the idea for this poem when I was eating some passion fruit and I left one for later then imagined it feeling bad and left out so I ate it. I was just about to take a nap too.
